A century plant, wrongly named, lives for twenty-five years, toiling to produce a beautiful, flowering plant. The plant expends its entire life’s supply of energy to generate this crown, flowering only once in its lifetime. Then, having consumed itself in presenting a momentary masterpiece to the world, the entire plant dies.
