Sore Arms

It’s been a great week.

  • Saturday, Part I: Attend Swim Meet
  • Saturday, Part II: Perform in Salsa Spectacle
  • Sunday: Run Half-Marathon
  • Monday: Eat Red Meat and Avoid Physical Activity
  • Tuesday: Play Intramural Basketball Game
  • Wednesday, Part I: Lift Weights
  • Wednesday, Part II: Salsa Lesson
  • Thursday: Play Intramural Basketball Game
  • Friday, Part I: Play Intramural Basketball Game
  • Friday, Part II: Swing Dance Party

My body isn’t quite used to anaerobic activity, which explains why extending my triceps has been a bit challenging today.

Nice! How'd you do in the half? I ran Madison last Sunday and set a personal best!

Ben, it was my third time running this race and my fastest time for the course. It was also my third half-marathon of the year and my slowest time in 2007.

...so I'm confused... (yeah, big surprise there) So you said that your body isn't quite used to "anerobic" activity? Meaning that you are always so active you don't spend any time lazing about, and you don't let your heart-rate get below about 135bpm? Or did you mean to say that you're body isn't quite used to so much "aerobic" activity and now it's all tired out?

(I apologize profusely for the genes I inherited from my mother (English Teacher)... and the genes I inherited from my father (insatiable curiosity) - a bad combination without a dose of politeness... I hope it didn't come off as bossy know-it-all)

A good question, Jeanine. I meant anaerobic – exactly what I wrote. The aerobic stuff – running, dancing, chasing squirrels – tires me out, but I recover fairly quickly from it. I used my weights for the first time in awhile on Wednesday, and I'm still stiff and sore over three days later, as I write this comment.
