I just read a friend’s post regarding a political candidate. In the post, my friend mentions having contributed financially to the candidate’s campaign. I thought, good for him, participating in the political process.
Then I glanced at the automated advertisements at the top of his page, the ones that presumably are generated by the content found within the blog. Take a look – click on the picture if you need to see it more clearly:
To be honest, I’m not quite sure what to make of it. On the left, we have Senator Obama. On the right, we have Biblical perspectives. Taken together, the whole thing smacks of Sixteenth Century indulgences, in the form of T-shirts being hawked by Twenty-First Century media.
Maybe God just wants us to purchase lots of T-shirts.
What would Jesus do?
POSTSCRIPT: Later in the day, I went back to the post and encountered the following pair of ads:

I suspect the "Generous Giving" bit from Adsence might have come from a compilation of Obama with Meeting the Richest Man in the World- looking at the philanthropy of Bill Gates and Warren Buffet.
