Applause

After three days away from teaching, my students stood and applauded when I returned to the classroom.

I was hoping they were happy to see me.
They weren’t.

They were happy I got married.
I didn’t.

They said the man who graciously substituted for me was exactly the same as me.
I would never wear knee-length, rainbow-colored socks.

This reminds me, I've heard here and there from kids negative comments about normal pants, calling them "flood pants". Personally, I wouldn't want to be caught dead in the Floor Sweepers they wear. Why should we wear something that gets continually dirty and ragged, rather than an appropriate length? So glad that the bell-bottoms are out now and the thin black pant is back in.
