Each year, I get
excited about and
promote International Talk Like a Pirate Day, which occurs annually on September 19. Truth is, I like the
idea of having a day devoted to Pirate-ese more than I like actually
talking like a pirate.
So when the actual day rolls around, my interest in using pirate-y vernacular typically walks the plank. Perhaps that explains why yesterday I acquired a kitten, rather than a parrot.

Note: Despite my indifference on pirate-speak, I
am a stickler on saying “Arrr!” instead of the oft-confused “Arrrgh!” (Read the official
explanation here. See also related Lucy and Charlie Brown footage
here.)
