Laser Radiation

Laser RadiationI trust the above picture fairly-well speaks for itself. What isn’t quite as self-explanatory is why it took $50 to ship a $100 diode from North America to North Africa, just to make a teensy-tiny hole in a pink piece of paper. Guys, uh, there are cheaper ways to do this.

Is anyone planning to take on any really groundbreaking science fair projects this year? If not, send them my way. I’ve got a great hypothesis involving a thumbtack.

oh no! did I miss the science fair? serious bummer. My favorite entries from last year were the catapult, the basil growing experiment (yumy outcome) and the quixotic attempt to prove whether protein shakes actually improve muscle mass... thereby giving teenage girls an excuse to photograph the hunky teenage boys with their shirts off! LOL
