Mantis
Prayerfully, a mantis, halcyon and tranquil, perches beside the portal to my living quarters, its anterior limbs akimbo, watching and waiting while the world passes by, until the neighbor-boy throws it on the sidewalk and squashes it.
I was going to write something profound...a haiku perhaps...but then your message tells me to leave a comment that is not profound but rather dignified, classy, and/or witty.
And now I can't remember what I was going to say.
So I will say this. Today I changed my customized Google homepage to have a skin of a praying mantis. It creeped me out, as praying mantisis (manti?) often do. And then I saw this picture and my skin is itchy.
